Webmaking 101

January 28, 2012 — 12 Comments

I just embarked on a new educational opportunity in the comfort of my own home! A good friend of mine shared Mozilla’s Open Badge Project with me and I registered with p2pu.org right away. I am really happy to be able to learn web development for free.

I really have an awesome life. I’m blessed with two kids and get to be a stay at home parent every day and most evenings. I spend many hours playing games and running around with my tots at local playgrounds. Hooray for a second childhood!

Some nights, I work as a nurse in the field of hospice. It can be very stressful and while rewarding, emotionally exhausting. I get to care for people who are terminally ill (and their loved ones) and go home after my shift full of gratitude for the simplest little things. I enjoy my career and am challenged everyday, but am looking for even more freedom.

The time to hesitate is through, I am doing this! All I want to know is, who’s coming with me?

Of course, I am talking about badges, Mozilla Open Badges to be more specific. There is a community based, Mozilla backed, open source method for gaining credentials. It’s all free. If you haven’t seen or heard of this yet, please go check it out.

Don’t get me started on badgers (unless you are really into them).
