Archives For floaters

Today was a lot warmer than the past few days. We had a lot of sunshine and found that the Oak park near our home had mostly cast off its puddles.

The kids and I climbed things at the playground, played with wood chips and discharged static electricity on each other with our fingertips. My son Sage made friends with a boy who liked to run. Their game consisted of yelling “Hey you!” at each other and running up stairs, sliding down slides and keeping about ten feet of distance between themselves.

We took a break from shenanigans to go for a little nature walk. We saw some red berries and I offered the advice that they are inedible. Our shoes got pretty caked with mud and we had the opportunity to cross two small bridges. Lucy, my daughter was upset that I overruled her assertion to go rock climbing on some large granite boulders. I promised that we would return one day and give them a go.

When we returned home, Lucy was playing with her ears. She had a concentrated look on her face and was gently covering and uncovering her ears, then giggling. I can remember doing that! It especially sounds interesting when someone is talking. I’ll need to show her the Doppler effect while on a swing as an airplane passes overhead. She might get a kick out of that.

Walking up to the front door, Sage pointed up at nothing in particular and said, “Daddy, what are those floatin’ little brown tings?”. I was seeing them too, so I tried my best to describe them as blood vessels. I was wrong. He’ll hear about that tomorrow over our oatmeal. It turns out the things we were seeing (were they not a collective hallucination) were floaters. I am assuming they were more visible because of the unusually bright, clear day and our need for a mutual need for a good drink of water.

We had chicken and waffles garnished with blueberries for lunch. I am trying to find out the name of this park we visited. I’m not certain what city it lies in. It could be Oceanside, Vista or Carlsbad. The borders get really weird there, in my opinion.
